Upcoming Events: Double the Love, Double the Success

With all the success the following programs have had, we just had to bring them back again! Not only were they incredibly popular amongst our volunteers, but they also had a lasting impact on our community, which is exactly what Active Plus is here for.

Coming Soon:

Heal-The-Violence Relaunch: Active Plus is excited to relaunch this initiative! The first program was such a great success that NYCHA asked that we bring it back for a second time.

In this program, students ages 14 to 18, are given a safe space to share their thoughts, feelings, and concerns. They are introduced to the foundations of restorative practices and community building, along with conducting a kindness workshop.

Students are taught how to become more self-aware, how to self-regulate their emotions, and how to express gratitude through their actions. This initiative includes programs such as yoga, mindfulness, restorative practices, social-emotional learning, and various wellness topics.

Heal-The-Violence started on November 7th and will continue until January 11th. Classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6:30pm. At the completion of the program, each student will receive a stipend of up to $750.

The program is completely full and has a waitlist. You can learn more about the relaunch of the Heal-The-Violence initiative and add yourself to the waitlist here.
